What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effects of two different exercise programs, Mackenzie exercises and tailored mat exercises, on chronic nonspecific low back pain in post-menopausal women. Participants will undergo a baseline treatment with moist hot packs and TENS before engaging in their assigned exercise regimen for 45 minutes, twice a week over a 10-week period. The study aims to assess improvements in pain, function, and disability, contributing to enhanced quality of life for the participants. A total of 62 women aged 55 to 85 with chronic low back pain will be recruited from Combined Military Hospital Lahore using a non-probability convenience sampling technique.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are post-menopausal women aged 55 to 85 with chronic nonspecific low back pain lasting more than 12 weeks.

Not a fit: Patients with serious underlying health conditions, recent fractures, or those who have participated in similar exercise programs recently may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide effective exercise interventions to alleviate low back pain and improve the quality of life for post-menopausal women.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes for exercise interventions in similar populations, but the specific comparison of Mackenzie and tailored mat exercises remains underexplored.
