What this trial studies

This observational study aims to compare blood lipid levels in participants over 20 years old with chronic kidney disease (CKD), both with and without diabetes. The primary objective is to determine whether diabetes exacerbates lipid abnormalities in CKD patients. Participants will undergo a 10-hour fasting period before blood samples are collected and analyzed in a laboratory. The findings could provide insights into the relationship between diabetes and lipid metabolism in CKD.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 20 years old with chronic kidney disease, either with or without diabetes.

Not a fit: Patients under 20 years old, those on lipid-lowering medications, or kidney transplant recipients may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help clarify the impact of diabetes on lipid levels in CKD patients, potentially guiding better management strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored lipid profiles in CKD patients, this specific comparison between diabetic and non-diabetic CKD patients is less common, making it a novel approach.
