What this trial studies

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of home-based pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) versus hospital-based PR in patients with bronchiectasis. While PR has shown benefits in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), its efficacy in bronchiectasis is less understood, necessitating further investigation. The study will assess pulmonary function, dyspnea perception, quality of life, and exercise capacity before and after the rehabilitation programs. By evaluating both supervised and unsupervised PR methods, the research seeks to determine the most effective approach for improving patient outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-70 with stable bronchiectasis diagnosed via high-resolution computed tomography.

Not a fit: Patients with decompensated heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension, or other conditions that may hinder exercise will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into more accessible and effective rehabilitation options for patients with bronchiectasis.

How similar studies have performed: While some studies have shown positive effects of pulmonary rehabilitation in bronchiectasis, this specific comparison of home-based versus hospital-based approaches is novel.
