What this trial studies

This study aims to compare the effects of external and internal focus strategies during an 8-week Pilates program on reaction time and performance metrics in young sedentary individuals. Participants will be divided into two groups: one focusing on body positioning (internal focus) and the other using equipment to perform exercises (external focus). The study will include 25 participants in each group and will assess their physical characteristics and reaction times throughout the program.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy volunteers aged 18 to 30 who are sedentary and willing to participate in an exercise program.

Not a fit: Patients with cardiovascular or musculoskeletal conditions, or those with a BMI of 30 or above, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance Pilates training methods, leading to improved physical performance and reaction times for participants.

How similar studies have performed: While there may be studies on focus strategies in exercise, this specific comparison in Pilates is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
