What this trial studies

This interventional study aims to implement a Falls Prevention Program designed to reduce the risk and injuries associated with falls among adults at risk. Participants will undergo functional mobility assessments and engage in various training activities, including an obstacle course, balance training, and falls strategies training. The program is innovative as it will be the first of its kind implemented as a community service in the U.S. and will involve students from a Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum. The effectiveness of the program will be evaluated using standardized measures to assess balance, gait speed, and overall patient satisfaction.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-100 who are at risk for falls, as determined by specific criteria such as a history of falls or mobility assessments.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to independently kneel, sit on the floor, or return to a chair, or those without medical clearance for participation, may not benefit from this program.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce the incidence of falls and improve mobility and confidence in at-risk adults.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with community-based falls prevention programs, indicating potential for positive outcomes with this approach.
