What this trial studies

This project aims to address mental health disparities among Latinos in the U.S. by implementing CRISOL Mente, a culturally-congruent community intervention in Philadelphia. The intervention will utilize Latino lay health workers (LHW) to enhance access to mental health services through community outreach and a stepped-care model. Over five years, the study will evaluate the effectiveness of different levels of LHW involvement in improving mental health outcomes for participants experiencing anxiety, depression, or PTSD. The initiative seeks to reduce barriers such as language and stigma while promoting culturally appropriate care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Latino individuals aged 18-65 residing in the Philadelphia area with moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety, depression, or PTSD.

Not a fit: Patients with high-risk mental health symptoms, such as active suicidality or psychosis, or those currently receiving therapy may not benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve mental health access and outcomes for Latino communities facing disparities.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with community-based interventions targeting mental health disparities, indicating a promising approach.
