Collection of blood and tissue samples for cardiac arrhythmias
Cleveland Clinic Arrhythmia Biospecimen Repository (Cleveland Clinic Arrhythmia BioBank)
This study is collecting blood and tissue samples from people with heart rhythm problems and healthy individuals to see if there are any genetic clues that could help us understand these conditions better.

What this trial studies
This research involves creating a biorepository of blood and tissue samples from patients with cardiac arrhythmia syndromes. The goal is to identify genetic factors and biological pathways associated with these conditions. The study will gather detailed phenotypic data alongside the samples from patients undergoing evaluations or treatments for arrhythmias, as well as control subjects without arrhythmias. The biorepository will consist of samples collected from both patients and collaborating institutions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 18 and older with a history of cardiac arrhythmias or those who are family members of affected individuals.
Not a fit: Patients who have previously participated in the Arrhythmia BioBank will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to a better understanding of the genetic causes of cardiac arrhythmias, potentially improving diagnosis and treatment options for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing biorepositories for genetic research in cardiac conditions have shown promise, indicating that this approach is both relevant and potentially impactful.
