What this trial studies
This observational study aims to collect and store biological samples, including blood and tissue, from patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, and various non-malignant gastrointestinal diseases. The samples will be used to create a comprehensive database that includes relevant clinical information, facilitating future research protocols. Patients undergoing surgery for these conditions will be eligible to participate, and no interventions will be administered during the study.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, or non-malignant gastrointestinal diseases who are scheduled for surgery.
Not a fit: Patients with comorbidities that prevent them from undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic interventions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of colorectal and gastric cancers, leading to improved diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies collecting biological samples for cancer research have shown success in advancing understanding and treatment options, making this approach well-established.
Eligibility criteria
Show full inclusion / exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: * Any patient diagnosed with colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, non-malignant disease that requires undergoing surgery. * Must be willing and able to provide informed consent.
