What this trial studies
This is a retrospective observational review of recurrent imported borreliosis cases confirmed by the CNR Borrelia at CHU Strasbourg from January 1, 2013 to January 1, 2025. Investigators will collect clinical presentations, travel and exposure histories, microscopy and molecular diagnostic results, and species identification when available. Data will be analyzed descriptively to characterize species distribution, presenting syndromes, diagnostic yields of methods, and outcomes including mortality. The study includes minors and adults and involves no interventional treatments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are children or adults who had imported recurrent borreliosis with diagnosis confirmed by the CNR Borrelia in Strasbourg between January 1, 2013 and January 1, 2025.
Not a fit: People without a CNR-confirmed diagnosis, cases diagnosed outside the specified timeframe, or those with non-recurrent or locally acquired borreliosis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the project could improve diagnosis and surveillance of imported recurrent borreliosis and help guide public health responses and clinical management.
How similar studies have performed: Molecular surveillance and descriptive studies using CNR-confirmed cases have successfully improved species identification and epidemiological understanding, though focused cohorts of imported recurrent borreliosis remain relatively limited.
