What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on patients with both glaucoma and cataracts undergoing cataract surgery. It aims to collect data on the safety and efficacy of the Quatera 700 phacoemulsification system, which allows for cataract surgery to be performed at significantly lower intraocular pressures. The study will monitor various parameters before, during, and after the surgical procedure to assess the impact of low pressure on patient outcomes. The innovative device is designed to minimize the risk of additional damage to the optic nerve during surgery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with both glaucoma and age-related cataracts.
Not a fit: Patients who are functionally monophtalmic or have uncontrolled systemic diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance the safety of cataract surgery for glaucoma patients, potentially preserving their vision.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have not been extensively documented, making this a novel investigation.
