What this trial studies
This study aims to establish a biobank that collects biological samples such as blood, urine, and stool from patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, systemic sclerosis, mixed connective tissue disease, and healthy controls. The goal is to gather specimens that will be stored for future research into the pathobiology of pulmonary hypertension and the development of biomarkers to improve clinical care. Participants will be recruited from the Comprehensive Pulmonary Hypertension Center and those undergoing right heart catheterization.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, systemic sclerosis, mixed connective tissue disease, or those undergoing right heart catheterization.
Not a fit: Patients under 18, pregnant, unable to understand English, currently incarcerated, or unwilling to sign informed consent may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this biobank could lead to improved understanding and management of pulmonary hypertension and related conditions.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational and focused on biobanking, similar studies have shown success in advancing research in related fields.
