Assessing tumor signatures in glioblastoma patients after autopsy

NovoTTF Treatment Signatures in Glioblastoma Patients At Autopsy

Observational Medical College of Wisconsin · NCT03194971

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to analyze whole brain samples from glioblastoma patients who have undergone Optune therapy with tumor treatment fields (TTFields) at autopsy. The goal is to identify the pathological signatures of tumors treated with TTFields compared to those that have not received this treatment. By enrolling patients with newly diagnosed and recurrent glioblastoma, the study will compare the patterns of tumor failure between these two groups. The investigators plan to enroll a total of 20 patients over four years to achieve this objective.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients with newly diagnosed or recurrent glioblastoma who are undergoing TTField therapy.

Not a fit: Patients who do not comply with TTField treatment or have contraindications to Optune therapy may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into the effectiveness of TTFields in treating glioblastoma and inform future treatment strategies.

How similar studies have performed: While TTFields have shown promise in clinical trials, this specific approach of assessing tumor signatures at autopsy is novel and has not been extensively tested.
