What this trial studies

This clinical trial evaluates how geriatric assessments influence treatment plans for elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). It involves a randomized controlled design with 220 participants who will be assessed using the Clinical Frailty Scale and the 10-minute Targeted Geriatric Assessment. Based on their frailty status, patients will receive tailored glycemic targets to optimize their diabetes management. The control group will receive standard treatment without the additional geriatric assessment input.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 60 years or older diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and currently under follow-up in a specialized endocrinology outpatient clinic.

Not a fit: Patients who are classified as Clinical Frailty Scale 9 or those who do not consent to participate will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more personalized and effective diabetes management for elderly patients, improving their overall health outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have indicated that individualized treatment approaches based on frailty assessments can improve outcomes, suggesting this method may be effective.
