Assessing how common orthostatic tremor is in patients with unsteadiness
Prevalence of Orthostatic Tremor by Surface Electromyographic Recording in Patients Reporting Unsteadiness
This study is trying to find out how common orthostatic tremor is in patients who feel unsteady and have been referred for nerve testing due to peripheral neuropathy.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to systematically assess the prevalence of orthostatic tremor (OT) in patients experiencing postural instability who are referred for electroneuromyography (ENMG) due to peripheral neuropathy. The study will analyze demographic, clinical, and electrophysiological characteristics of these patients, confirming the presence of OT through surface EMG. By evaluating the correlation between OT and various neuropathy scores, the study seeks to provide a clearer understanding of the relationship between these conditions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who experience instability when standing and are referred for an ENMG.
Not a fit: Patients who are unable to stand, under legal protection, or those who refuse to participate will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the diagnosis and management of patients with orthostatic tremor and related neuropathies.
How similar studies have performed: While the prevalence of orthostatic tremor has been studied, this specific approach focusing on patients with peripheral neuropathy is novel and has not been extensively tested.
