What this trial studies
This observational study aims to follow individuals aged 30 and above in Pakistan for 10 years to assess their risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD). It will evaluate risk assessment scores to identify high-risk individuals and track the incidence of ASCVD events over the long term. The study addresses a significant gap in local data regarding ASCVD, particularly in diverse economic settings. By focusing on a broad demographic, it seeks to provide insights into the evolving landscape of cardiovascular health in Pakistan.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 30 years and older without a known history of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases.
Not a fit: Patients with a confirmed diagnosis of ASCVD or those with cancer will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved risk assessment and management strategies for preventing ASCVD in the Pakistani population.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in assessing cardiovascular risk in diverse populations, but this specific approach in Pakistan is relatively novel.
