What this trial studies
This observational study aims to collect breast milk and fecal samples from healthy mother-infant pairs to investigate the microbial and metabolomic signatures present in these specimens. By utilizing advanced culture techniques and omics sequencing technology, the study seeks to uncover insights into the health and development of infants. The focus is on understanding the relationship between maternal health and the microbial environment of breast milk and feces. The findings could provide valuable information for improving infant health outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy pregnant women aged 20 to 40 who have had a vaginal birth and meet specific health criteria.
Not a fit: Patients with gestational diabetes, depressive disorders during pregnancy, or other specified health conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance our understanding of maternal and infant health, potentially leading to improved dietary and health recommendations.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies exploring maternal and infant microbiomes exist, this specific approach utilizing omics sequencing is relatively novel.
