Analysis of chest X-ray severity in COVID-19 pneumonia patients
Radiographic Severity Scoring System and Clinical and Laboratory Evolution of COVID-19 Pneumonia
This study looks at how chest X-ray results relate to inflammation and breathing problems in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia to see how these factors affect their recovery.

What this trial studies
This observational study conducts a retrospective analysis of patients admitted to the COVID-19 ICU at University Hospital Center Osijek during 2020 and 2021 due to pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2. It aims to examine the relationship between chest X-ray findings and various laboratory inflammatory parameters and respiratory function metrics. The study will review medical histories, including comorbidities, treatment outcomes, and the evolution of lung infiltrates quantified using the Brixia system. Additionally, it will analyze the impact of inflammatory markers and organ failure assessments on patient outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients who were admitted to the ICU with pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2.
Not a fit: Patients with lung tumors or a history of lung resection will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the understanding of COVID-19 pneumonia severity and improve patient management strategies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in using chest X-ray assessments to evaluate pneumonia severity, indicating this approach is supported by existing research.
