What this trial studies
This study evaluates a cancer survivorship care intervention aimed at reducing physical symptom distress and improving weight management, self-efficacy, and health-related quality of life among Chinese patients who have recently completed curative cancer treatment. Utilizing a sequential multiple assessment randomized controlled trial (SMART) approach, the intervention includes a multidisciplinary team assessment and personalized advice on symptom management and lifestyle modifications. Participants will be compared against those receiving standard pamphlets for symptom management to determine the effectiveness of the intervention. Additionally, a step-up targeted personalized intervention will be tested for patients who continue to experience distress or weight management issues.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Cantonese- or Mandarin-speaking Chinese patients who have completed curative cancer treatment within the past six months.
Not a fit: Patients diagnosed with metastatic cancer will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance the quality of life and self-management skills of cancer survivors.
