What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a physician-led, multi-disciplinary approach to treating obesity through personalized dietary plans based on genetics, exercise, and motivational counseling. Overweight and obese participants will be randomized to receive either a personalized diet plan or a standard care diet plan, both of which include a structured exercise intervention. The program lasts for six months, during which participants will aim to improve their diet and engage in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity. After the intervention, a three-month no contact phase will help assess the long-term effects of the program.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are males and females aged 18-40 with a BMI greater than 25 who are stable on medications and able to participate in an exercise program.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 or over 40 years old, those unable to exercise, or currently pregnant will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could lead to significant weight loss and improved health outcomes for participants.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar multi-disciplinary approaches to obesity treatment, indicating potential for positive outcomes.
