What this trial studies

This pilot study evaluates the feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary efficacy of the ImPACT program, a novel neuropsychological rehabilitation intervention designed for childhood cancer survivors experiencing cognitive impairment. The program addresses key elements often missing in previous interventions, such as real-world application of skills, parental involvement, and awareness training for better strategy use. By engaging both survivors and their parents, the study aims to enhance cognitive and neurobehavioral outcomes in this population. The findings will inform the design of a larger randomized controlled trial.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are childhood cancer survivors diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, or central nervous system tumors who have completed treatment at least 6 months ago and exhibit cognitive or neurobehavioral impairments.

Not a fit: Patients with confounding psychiatric or medical conditions unrelated to cancer that may affect cognitive function may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve cognitive functioning and quality of life for childhood cancer survivors and their families.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research on effective interventions for cognitive impairment in childhood cancer survivors, this approach is novel and aims to address previously identified gaps.
