What this trial studies
This research evaluates a new mobile application called SCI-Lynx, designed to help individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI) connect with each other for social support in physical activity and exercise. The app aims to enhance self-efficacy and social connections over a one-month period, addressing the challenges of physical inactivity in this population. By integrating behavioral change strategies such as goal setting and activity tracking, SCI-Lynx seeks to promote sustained engagement in physical activities among users. The study will assess the app's effectiveness in improving health outcomes for individuals with SCI.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with a spinal cord injury who primarily use a wheelchair for mobility.
Not a fit: Patients who are not fluent in conversational English or lack access to the necessary technology may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly increase physical activity levels and improve overall health and well-being for individuals with spinal cord injuries.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that mobile health applications can effectively improve health outcomes in various populations, suggesting potential success for this novel approach.
