What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to pilot a user-friendly web-based toolkit designed to help jails provide tailored care for pregnant individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD). The study will assess the needs of various jails in implementing medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and pregnancy-specific support services. Jail staff will receive training on using the toolkit and will participate in surveys and interviews to evaluate its effectiveness and feasibility. The project seeks to improve care for pregnant people in custody by addressing their unique medical and social needs.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include pregnant individuals with opioid use disorder who are currently in custody at participating jails.
Not a fit: Patients who are non-English speaking, intoxicated, actively withdrawing, or psychotic may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly improve pregnancy outcomes and recovery for women with opioid use disorder in jail settings.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promise in improving care for substance use disorders in correctional settings.
