What this trial studies
This study evaluates the SIBTime web application, designed to support typically developing siblings of children with disabilities aged 3-6. Over an 8-week period, 160 parent-child dyads will participate in a randomized controlled trial to assess the app's relevance, acceptability, and efficacy. The study will measure changes in parenting stress, parent-child relationships, and sibling behavior before and after using the app. The goal is to enhance the social-emotional health and well-being of these siblings through improved family routines and knowledge.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include parents of a child with a disability and a typically developing child aged 3-6 who have access to a smartphone or tablet.
Not a fit: Patients who do not have a typically developing child aged 3-6 or do not speak English or Spanish may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly improve the social-emotional health of typically developing siblings and enhance family dynamics.
How similar studies have performed: While there may be similar interventions, this specific approach using a dual language app for siblings of children with disabilities is relatively novel.
