What this trial studies

This observational study collects information from adults about the ways they choose to get voluntary HIV screening. Participants 18 and older who agree to take part will report whether they used clinic testing, community services, self-tests, or other options. Data will be gathered at the Reims site and summarized to describe patterns by age, gender, and prior testing history. The goal is to map how the general population accesses voluntary HIV testing in France.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older living in France who agree to participate, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or prior HIV testing history, are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Minors, people who refuse to participate, and individuals unable to provide information at the Reims site are not eligible and will not benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help improve access to and promotion of the HIV testing methods people actually use.

How similar studies have performed: Similar observational surveys of HIV testing methods have been done in other countries and have provided useful information for public health outreach, so this approach is not wholly novel.
