What this trial studies
The iParent2Parent (iP2P) program connects parents of pediatric solid organ transplant recipients with trained peer mentors through a virtual platform. This innovative approach aims to reduce feelings of isolation and improve mental health by providing one-on-one support. Parents will be randomized into either the iP2P program or a control group to assess the effectiveness of peer mentorship. The study leverages eHealth technologies to enhance access to support interventions for families navigating the challenges of pediatric organ transplantation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include parents of children under 18 who have received a solid organ transplant and are at least two months post-transplant.
Not a fit: Parents who do not speak English or whose children are not within the specified age and transplant criteria may not benefit from this program.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the mental health and well-being of parents of pediatric transplant recipients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that peer support programs can be effective in improving mental health outcomes, suggesting potential success for this novel approach.
