What this trial studies
Postpartum women at a single hospital in Ankara will receive either video-based or written educational materials about pelvic floor health outside routine postpartum follow-up. Researchers will compare changes in pelvic floor knowledge and self-reported symptoms or function during the postpartum period. Eligible participants are Turkish-literate women aged 18–45 with a single full-term pregnancy and no prior pelvic floor incontinence or relevant neurologic/psychiatric conditions. The trial tests two low-risk education formats to identify which better supports postpartum pelvic floor self-care and symptom recognition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Women aged 18–45 who had a single full-term pregnancy, can read Turkish, and have no history of pelvic floor incontinence, pelvic surgery, or major neurologic/psychiatric disorders.
Not a fit: Women with preexisting fecal or urinary incontinence, prior pelvic surgery, high-risk pregnancies, significant neurologic or psychiatric conditions, or who cannot read Turkish are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the preferred education format could improve women's understanding and self-care for pelvic floor problems after childbirth.
How similar studies have performed: Previous educational interventions have often improved pelvic floor knowledge and sometimes symptom reporting, though effects on objective pelvic floor function have been mixed.
