What this trial studies

This observational study aims to validate a self-assessment tool designed to encourage individuals with undiagnosed neuromuscular symptoms to seek medical evaluation for suspected myasthenia gravis (MG). Participants will be recruited through a social media campaign and will complete a series of assessments, including the Impact of Daily Living (IDL) Survey and MG Physical Tests, to evaluate their symptoms. A neurologist will review the results to determine if further evaluation is necessary. The study expands on a pilot study that successfully diagnosed MG in previously undiagnosed individuals.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults in the U.S. with undiagnosed neuromuscular symptoms who are fluent in English.

Not a fit: Patients already diagnosed with myasthenia gravis or other specified neurological conditions will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment for patients with myasthenia gravis.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown success in using social media for recruitment and diagnosis of myasthenia gravis, making this approach promising.
