Validation of a new cognitive assessment tool for Alzheimer's patients
Validation of a Novel Self-Administered Cognitive Assessment Tool (CogCheck) in Patients With Mild and Major Neurocognitive Disorder Predominantly Due to Alzheimer's Disease
This study is testing a new computer-based memory test called CogCheck to see if it can help identify cognitive problems in people with Alzheimer's disease more accurately and quickly than traditional tests.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to validate a novel self-administered cognitive assessment tool called CogCheck for patients with mild and major neurocognitive disorders predominantly due to Alzheimer's disease. The study focuses on the importance of early and accurate identification of cognitive impairment, utilizing a computerized test battery that offers advantages over traditional paper-pencil tests, such as reduced examiner bias and immediate result availability. Participants will undergo a neuropsychological assessment prior to using CogCheck to ensure accurate evaluation of their cognitive function.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 65 and older who have completed a neuropsychological assessment and show signs of mild or major neurocognitive disorder due to Alzheimer's.
Not a fit: Patients with severe sensory or motor impairments that interfere with cognitive testing or those with significantly low cognitive scores may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this tool could enhance early detection and diagnosis of cognitive impairments in Alzheimer's patients, leading to timely interventions.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using computerized cognitive assessments, indicating that this approach is gaining traction in the field.
