What this trial studies

This observational study aims to validate a language test specifically designed for Swiss German-speaking children aged 4-6 years. It will assess the speech intelligibility of monosyllables and disyllables in children with normal hearing. The study will record standard values to establish benchmarks for language development in this demographic. By focusing on children with a hearing threshold better than 20dB HL, the study seeks to ensure accurate assessment of language skills without the confounding factor of hearing loss.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are native Swiss German-speaking children aged 4-6 years with normal hearing.

Not a fit: Patients with hearing loss or cognitive impairment will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide standardized language assessment tools for early identification of language development issues in Swiss German-speaking children.

How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach is focused on Swiss German language assessment, similar studies validating language tests in other languages have shown success.
