What this trial studies

The project will translate and cross-culturally adapt the Barriers to Being Active Quiz into Turkish using a standardized back-translation method with two bilingual translators. A pilot of 15 participants will check face validity for clarity, relevance, and administration time. The full sample of 210 healthy adults will complete the questionnaire and a subset will repeat it after 5–7 days to measure test-retest reliability, while internal consistency will be calculated with Cronbach's alpha. Construct validity will be examined by correlating BBAQ-T scores with the Turkish Self-Perceived Barriers for Physical Activity Questionnaire and the SF-12.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Turkish-speaking adults (age 18+) who can read and write Turkish and do not have cognitive impairment, major psychiatric disorders, rheumatologic inflammatory disease, or significant neurological or recent orthopedic limitations.

Not a fit: People with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases, major neurological or recent orthopedic impairments, cognitive impairment, or severe psychiatric disorders likely would not benefit from this validation and its results may not apply to them.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, clinicians and public-health programs in Turkey could use the BBAQ-T to identify common obstacles to exercise and better tailor interventions to increase physical activity.

How similar studies have performed: Similar translation and psychometric validation efforts for physical activity barrier questionnaires in other languages have generally produced reliable instruments, so this approach is well established.
