What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided median nerve hydrodissection using 5% dextrose and vitamin B12 for treating carpal tunnel syndrome. It is a prospective, double-blind randomized control trial designed to compare the outcomes of different injection agents on patients diagnosed with this condition. The study aims to provide evidence on whether these treatments can alleviate symptoms and improve function in affected individuals.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 20-80 who have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome confirmed by an electrophysiological study.

Not a fit: Patients who have previously undergone wrist surgery or steroid injections for carpal tunnel syndrome, or those with certain medical conditions such as thrombocytopenia or autoimmune diseases, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could offer a non-surgical option for patients suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, potentially reducing pain and improving hand function.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with ultrasound-guided hydrodissection for carpal tunnel syndrome, but the combination of vitamin B12 with this approach is less established.
