What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to assess the impact of visual feedback on patients' tooth brushing techniques and habits to enhance their oral health during periodontal treatment. Participants will be randomized into three groups, receiving either manual brushing, electric brushing without feedback, or electric brushing with daily visual feedback through a smartphone app. They will maintain a brushing diary and attend check-up appointments every three weeks to evaluate their oral hygiene progress. The study seeks to determine if visual feedback leads to improved oral health outcomes and behavioral changes in brushing habits.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients in need of periodontal treatment who are willing to maintain a brushing diary and can use a smartphone app.

Not a fit: Patients who smoke, have systemic diseases, or are pregnant may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance patients' oral hygiene and overall periodontal health.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar approaches using visual feedback to improve oral hygiene practices.
