What this trial studies
This research investigates the effectiveness of a virtual reality intervention called Virtual Reality Job Interview Training (VR-JIT) aimed at improving job interview skills in adults with traumatic brain injury (TBI). The study focuses on enhancing social competency skills necessary for successful job interviews, building on preliminary evidence of VR-JIT's success in other populations such as individuals with autism spectrum disorder and schizophrenia. Participants will engage in VR scenarios designed to simulate job interviews, allowing them to practice and improve their skills in a controlled environment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 to 65 with a diagnosis of moderate to severe TBI who are at least one year post-injury and fluent in English.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of neurological diseases or significant psychiatric illnesses, as well as those currently taking certain medications, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance job reentry skills for individuals with TBI, improving their employment opportunities and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Preliminary evidence suggests that similar virtual reality interventions have been successful in improving interview abilities in other populations, but this specific application for TBI is novel.
