What this trial studies
This study explores the feasibility and effectiveness of the GlenXRose Virtual Reality Speech-Language Therapy program, which incorporates gamified vocal exercises and education delivered through immersive virtual reality. The aim is to improve patient adherence to speech therapy by making the exercises more engaging and enjoyable. Participants will use VR technology at home to practice their vocal exercises, potentially leading to better rehabilitation outcomes. The study will assess how well this innovative approach can be integrated into routine clinical care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults receiving speech-language therapy who have a speech disorder and can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive or behavioral impairments, or those with communication disorders that hinder understanding, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve adherence to speech therapy, leading to better vocal recovery and quality of life for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using technological approaches to enhance adherence in speech-language rehabilitation, indicating potential success for this novel VR approach.
