What this trial studies

This observational study evaluates the effectiveness of vibrational spectroscopy techniques, specifically Infrared and Raman spectroscopy, in diagnosing bladder cancer through urine samples. Given the high recurrence and progression rates of bladder cancer, the study aims to develop a non-invasive and sensitive diagnostic tool that could improve early detection. Participants will provide urine samples and complete a questionnaire to gather clinical information, with the study planned to last for 36 months.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who are undergoing a urology consultation for cystoscopy.

Not a fit: Patients who have refused to participate, lack a native bladder, or have a bladder fistula will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to earlier and more accurate diagnosis of bladder cancer, reducing the need for invasive procedures.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of vibrational spectroscopy in medical diagnostics is promising, this specific application for bladder cancer diagnosis is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
