What this trial studies
This pilot trial evaluates the effectiveness of a social media platform in providing dietary and lifestyle management support for pregnant women diagnosed with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Participants will be randomly assigned to either receive usual care or additional support through the social media platform for one month. The study will measure acceptability, satisfaction, engagement, emotional well-being, and glycemic control among participants. The findings aim to enhance the management of GDM through innovative digital solutions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant women aged 21 to 45 diagnosed with gestational diabetes who can access social media.
Not a fit: Patients with pre-existing Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes or those with multiple pregnancies may not benefit from this study.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion Criteria: * Diagnosed with GDM as confirmed by the Oral Glucose Tolerance Test during pregnancy * Age ≥ 21 and ≤ 45 years * Attended first (baseline) session of GDM diet counselling session * Able to read and comprehend English * Have a digital device accessible to social media platform * Have SingPass access * Able to provide informed consent Exclusion Criteria: * With known Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes * Have multiple pregnancy
