What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effects of a therapeutic intervention combining pain neuroscience education, virtual reality exposure, and therapeutic exercise for patients suffering from chronic low back pain. The intervention aims to address negative beliefs and fear of movement that often accompany chronic pain, using virtual reality as a distraction technique to encourage movement and exercise. Participants will receive a one-hour educational session followed by 30 minutes of virtual reality exercise, aiming to improve their pain perception and reduce avoidance behaviors. The study will assess the effectiveness of this combined approach in enhancing patient outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 65 with chronic musculoskeletal pain lasting at least three months who can communicate in Spanish.
Not a fit: Patients with neuropathic pain or those unable to understand study instructions due to physical or psychological conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve pain management and physical activity levels in patients with chronic low back pain.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using similar approaches of combining education and virtual reality for pain management, indicating potential for success.
