Using MRI to assess response to radiotherapy in soft tissue sarcoma

Neoadjuvant Radiotherapy of Soft Tissue Sarcomas of Limbs and Trunk : Interest of Multiparametric Quantitative MRI for Response Assessment and Per-treatment Progression Prediction

Not applicable Interventional Centre Leon Berard · NCT05684874

What this trial studies

This trial evaluates the effectiveness of neoadjuvant radiotherapy in patients with soft tissue sarcoma located in the limbs and trunk. Participants will undergo two multiparametric quantitative MRI scans: one before and one after the radiotherapy treatment. The study aims to analyze the changes in tumor characteristics as observed through these MRI scans, which will help in understanding the tumor's response to the treatment. A surgical resection will follow 6 to 8 weeks post-radiotherapy to further assess the tumor's characteristics.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a confirmed diagnosis of soft tissue sarcoma of the limbs or trunk who are eligible for neoadjuvant radiotherapy.

Not a fit: Patients with unresectable tumors, certain types of sarcomas like desmoid tumors, or those with multi-metastatic disease may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve treatment strategies for soft tissue sarcoma by providing insights into tumor response to radiotherapy.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies using MRI to assess treatment response in sarcomas have shown promising results.
