What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the effects of administering intravenous morphine during laparoscopic cholecystectomy on postoperative pain levels and side effects. Participants will be divided into two groups: one receiving morphine during surgery and the other not receiving morphine. The study will utilize the Redcap secure web application for data collection and management, and statistical analyses will include T-tests and potentially logistic regression. The goal is to determine if morphine can effectively reduce pain after gallbladder removal surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy who can provide consent.

Not a fit: Patients with chronic pain syndromes or those with a history of substance abuse may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved pain management for patients undergoing gallbladder surgery.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown varying results regarding the effectiveness of intraoperative morphine for pain management, making this approach both relevant and potentially novel.
