What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of mobile vans equipped with artificial intelligence for screening tuberculosis (TB) in high-prevalence areas of rural Guangxi, China. Participants will undergo TB screening using AI-aided chest X-rays and provide sputum samples for testing. The study compares TB rates between communities receiving this new screening method and those continuing with standard care over three years. The goal is to determine if this innovative approach can lower TB cases and assess its practicality and cost-effectiveness.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 15 and older who are at high risk for TB, such as the elderly, those with a history of TB, or individuals with underlying health conditions.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse participation or do not meet the inclusion criteria will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this method could significantly improve TB control in high-risk populations.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise with similar active case finding approaches, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
