What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of liraglutide in patients suffering from obesity combined with metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). Participants will undergo a structured intervention program that includes dietary control, exercise therapy, and lifestyle modifications over a 3-month period. They will be randomized into three groups: one receiving liraglutide, another receiving orlistat, and a control group receiving lifestyle intervention alone. The study will assess the impact of these treatments on weight loss and liver health.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals diagnosed with both obesity and metabolic associated fatty liver disease.
Not a fit: Patients with severe hepatic or renal insufficiency, or those with a history of severe gastrointestinal disorders, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve weight management and liver health in patients with obesity and MAFLD.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with liraglutide for weight management and metabolic conditions, indicating a potential for success in this approach.
