What this trial studies
This intervention aims to improve visual function in individuals with multiple sclerosis who have experienced optic neuritis by administering light stimulation. Participants will receive two daily sessions of 80 seconds of light stimulation over 12 days, using a flicker video on a mobile phone. A control group will receive sham stimulation to compare the outcomes. The primary focus is on measuring changes in high-contrast visual acuity, with secondary measures including colored-contrast tests.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-60 with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis who have experienced optic neuritis within the last 1-3 months.
Not a fit: Patients with conditions such as epilepsy, light-triggered migraines, or significant retinal diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance visual function in patients recovering from optic neuritis.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies exploring light stimulation for visual function have shown promise, suggesting potential for success.
