What this trial studies
This study evaluates the satisfaction of patients undergoing cardiac surgery who receive additional support through Ericksonian Medical Hypnosis. It involves both retrospective and prospective surveys to assess the impact of hypnosis on pre-operative stress and anxiety. The goal is to enhance patient involvement in their care and improve their overall quality of life during and after surgery. The study will utilize questionnaires, including the EQ5D-5L, to gather data on patient experiences and outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who are scheduled for major cardiac surgery and are open to participating in hypnosis sessions.
Not a fit: Patients who oppose data conservation, are under guardianship, pregnant, breastfeeding, or have contraindications to hypnosis may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce anxiety and improve the quality of life for patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown benefits of hypnosis in reducing anxiety and improving comfort during hospitalization, but this specific approach in cardiac surgery is less explored.
