What this trial studies
This project aims to enhance glycemic control in individuals with prediabetes by combining continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) with a series of health education videos. Participants will wear CGM devices for 20 days, with the first 10 days of data being masked and the last 10 days unmasked, during which they will receive daily educational content via smartphone. The study will evaluate the impact of this combined approach on glucose regulation and the prevention of type 2 diabetes. Community health workers will lead the educational component, ensuring culturally relevant support for participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Spanish- and/or English-speaking individuals diagnosed with prediabetes who are willing to wear a continuous glucose monitor.
Not a fit: Patients who are currently pregnant or have medical conditions that interfere with blood glucose levels may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve glucose control and reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes in individuals with prediabetes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using continuous glucose monitoring and educational interventions for diabetes management, suggesting potential success for this approach.
