What this trial studies
This observational study at Institut Curie will review adult medical oncology inpatients for whom enteral nutrition is indicated and record whether care follows French HAS and SFNCM recommendations. Investigators will collect clinical and laboratory data, documentation of nutrition decisions, and the use of oral nutritional supplements versus enteral feeding during hospitalization. The protocol excludes minors, patients receiving end-of-life palliative care, those under legal protection, and patients who do not speak French. Results will be compared with prior audits (for example ADHENUTE) to identify gaps, barriers, and opportunities to improve guideline adherence.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults hospitalized in the medical oncology unit at Institut Curie who are indicated for enteral nutrition by SFNCM/HAS criteria and who can consent and speak French.
Not a fit: Patients in end-of-life palliative care, minors, individuals under guardianship or judicial protection, those unable to participate for social or geographic reasons, and non–French speakers are excluded and will not benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If practices are aligned with guidelines more consistently, patients could receive appropriate enteral nutrition earlier, helping reduce malnutrition and improve treatment tolerance and quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Prior audits such as the ADHENUTE study have demonstrated low compliance (around 31%) with enteral nutrition recommendations, so comparable work has documented underuse rather than testing a new therapy.
