What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the impact of an electronic nudge system that alerts clinicians to prescribe four key pharmacological classes for patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) at outpatient clinics in Amsterdam. By utilizing electronic health records, the study seeks to enhance guideline-directed medical therapy for HFrEF patients. The study will involve a prospective cohort of patients receiving treatment for HFrEF, with data collected to assess the effectiveness of the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old receiving treatment for HFrEF with a documented reduced ejection fraction of less than 40%.
Not a fit: Patients who have opted out of using routine clinical data for research purposes will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to improved treatment adherence and outcomes for patients with heart failure.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using electronic nudges to improve clinical decision-making, suggesting potential success for this approach.
