Using breath and skin tests to detect melanoma early
Precision Medicine for L/GCMN and Melanoma 1 (Precis-mel 2)
This study is testing if a breath analyzer and a skin patch can help find advanced melanoma earlier by checking for certain chemicals in your breath and skin.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of non-invasive technologies, specifically a breath analyzer and a skin patch, in detecting metastatic melanoma through the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Over a period of 24 months, the study will compare the results from these devices with standard imaging techniques and correlate them with established prognostic biomarkers obtained via liquid biopsy. The goal is to identify patterns in VOCs that could indicate the presence of metastases in melanoma patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with a histopathologically confirmed diagnosis of melanoma at stage II, III, or IV.
Not a fit: Patients with other cancers or chronic diseases that may affect VOC profiles will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to earlier detection of metastatic melanoma, improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of VOC analysis in cancer detection is an emerging field, similar studies have shown promise, but this specific approach remains novel.
