What this trial studies

This study investigates the effects of auricular acupressure on sleep quality among nursing staff who experience sleep deprivation due to their demanding work schedules. A quasi-experimental design is employed, where eligible nurses with a Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale score of 5 or higher are assigned to either an experimental group receiving auricular acupressure or a control group with no intervention. The intervention involves applying seeds to specific acupoints on the ears and stimulating them daily. Sleep quality is assessed at baseline and again at four and eight weeks post-intervention using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are nurses aged 18 and older who score 5 or higher on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale.

Not a fit: Patients with mental illnesses or skin conditions around the ears may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance sleep quality for nurses, leading to improved work performance and patient care.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with auricular acupressure for improving sleep quality, suggesting this approach may be effective.
