What this trial studies
This study recruits children aged 5-18 with cerebral palsy classified as GMFCS I-II to participate in a home-based physical activity intervention over four weeks. Participants will use an augmented reality (AR) app designed to promote exercise through engaging gaming experiences. They will complete surveys to assess their physical activity levels and mobility before and after the intervention, and maintain a logbook to track their exercise adherence. The goal is to evaluate whether the AR app can effectively increase physical activity among these children.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 5-18 years with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy who are ambulatory and speak English or Spanish.
Not a fit: Patients with moderate to severe developmental or cognitive delays, significant sensory impairments, or recent surgeries affecting physical activity may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly enhance physical activity levels and overall health in children with cerebral palsy.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies utilizing augmented reality for promoting physical activity have shown promising results, indicating potential for success in this novel application.
