What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of a symptom management application designed for parents of children with Tourette Syndrome. It employs a randomized control design where one group uses the app for four weeks while the control group receives traditional health education. Parents in the experimental group track their child's tic patterns and access educational resources through the app. The study measures various outcomes, including care needs, sleep quality, anxiety, and parent-child relationship quality, using standardized questionnaires before and after the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are parents of children aged 6-12 diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome who are the primary caregivers and can communicate in Mandarin.
Not a fit: Patients whose children have intellectual disabilities or critical diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this app could significantly enhance the ability of parents to manage their child's Tourette Syndrome symptoms, leading to improved quality of life for both parents and children.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using technology for symptom management in neurodevelopmental disorders, suggesting potential success for this approach.
